TITLE: SPEECH/LANGUAGE THERAPIST


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. Current certification as a Speech/Language Therapist in the State of Arizona.

2.  Master's Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders.
3. Hearing Handicapped certification and Sign Language desirable.

 

Alternative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable.


REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education


SUPERVISES: Speech [SLPAs]

 

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Teachers, special education teachers.

 

JOB GOAL: To provide speech and language therapy services to identified students.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

 

1. Perform the clinical and administrative duties of a speech and language pathologist.
2. Conduct speech and language screenings.
3. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech and language development.
4. Conduct speech and language therapeutic programs in accord with instructional plans.
5. Prepare evaluation reports and instructional objectives for the therapeutic program.
6. Act as advisor to teachers and parents regarding speech and language disorders.
7. Consult with related professionals and make client referrals when appropriate.
8. Provide in-service information to staff.
9. Conducts daily/weekly schedule effectively.
10. Demonstrate knowledge of State and Federal special education rules and regulations and how they impact District procedures and policies.
11. Continue professional growth through involvement in course work, in-service, and participation in professional conferences appropriate to the field of speech and language pathology.

12. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1560 hours/year. Hourly rate and workdays established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of

the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Staff.

Salary : $44,500 - $49,500
