Behavior Specialist
Employment Term (days): 210
Pay Scale: Administrative-Instructional 4

Primary Purpose:
Support students by creating, implementing, and monitoring intervention plans for individuals with developmental disabilities and other behavioral challenges as relates to students identified needs. Create, implement and monitor district-level programming for students with identified behavioral needs.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required special education endorsement for assignment or a valid professional license to practice in the State of Texas
Graduate course work or equivalent experience in the field of ABA or special education
Master’s Degree in Special Education Applied Behavior Analysis or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (preferred)
Experience:
Three years of experience as a special education teacher or working with children with behavior challenges
Experience working with students including implementing behavior management strategies
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and implementation
Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology
Ability to work with students with pervasive developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
