Homebound Teacher Part-Time/Hourly
JOB DESCRIPTION
Homebound teachers at Special School District (SSD) support students who are unable to access services in a traditional school setting by providing individualized instruction through a compassionate, student-centered approach. In this role, you will serve students throughout St. Louis County, helping them continue learning and making progress while acting as a connection between home and school. Through collaboration with families, teachers, counselors, and administrators, you will develop and deliver programs that respond to each student’s unique needs and help ensure they remain supported, engaged, and connected to their education.
Frequent collaboration with families, IEP case managers, classroom teachers, and counselors is required. Hours worked are determined by the Homebound department, and scheduling is mutually agreed upon between the Homebound teacher and the family. Instruction may be delivered on days, nights, and/or weekends.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with specialization in special education or general education required
- Classroom experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Missouri certification in appropriate area of specialization: special education: (BD, LD, MR, SH, VI, HI, PI, deaf/blind, ECSE) teacher and/or general education: elementary education, middle school, high school: English, math, science, social studies, Spanish, family & consumer science, business
Salary
- $42/hour
