What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Coordinator position at Special Olympics Indiana?
JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Coordinator is primarily responsible for compiling, processing, and maintaining cash receipts and payments records for Special Olympics Indiana (SOIN) county programs. Provides various accounting services for the State office in support of the Accounting Manager.
PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS AND TASKS (Time Spent)
1. Accounting and Bookkeeping – County Programs (60%)
· Reconcile all non-Fifth-Third bank accounts.
· Process county receipts into the accounting system. Coordinate and communicate with County
Programs to ensure the appropriate documentation is received for contributions and grants.
· Coordinate credit card activity, including timely monthly reconciliation and follow up with counties to obtain all documentation required. Enter into accounting system.
· Process all county invoices for payment.
2. Accounting and Bookkeeping – State Office (20%)
- Process state office and other non-fundraising receipts into the accounting system, including souvenirs.
- Assist Accounting Manager in processing state office invoices for payment.
- Assist in compilation of receipts for Federal Grant reporting
3. Raiser’s Edge Data Entry (10%)
· Provide back-up to Data-Base Manager to perform data entry into donor database.
· Enter all county contributions greater than $500
4. Back-Up & Events (10%)
· Provide back-up to Accounting Manager for critical accounting daily tasks.
· Assist as scheduled at events (registration, souvenir sales)
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience with receiving & applying cash in a business setting.
- Basic knowledge of Excel; able to generate & edit spreadsheets plus the ability to perform simple calculations & formulas.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word & Outlook) in a PC environment.
- Able to communicate well verbally and in writing and ask questions when the need arises.
- High School Graduate. (Associates Degree in Accounting is a plus)
- Must be very detail oriented.
- Customer service orientation.
SPECIAL DEMANDS / OPPORTUNITIES
During regular business hours, they are available for in-person meetings and events and virtual meetings and events and are available via email and phone with internal and external audiences.
