Responsible for driving and maintaining the mobile unit and assuring all of its systems, equipment, and supplies are in good working order. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to transporting mobile units to various locations on schedule as required. The Transportation Specialist will maintain daily logs of driving time, insure mobile units are in good working condition at all times, report any maintenance issues, and set up the mobile unit at various locations as assigned including tents, medical supplies, medical equipment, etc.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the mobile unit according to a prearranged schedule.
  • Contact the clinic team in advance to confirm logistics, time of arrival, supplies needed, etc.
  • Set up the mobile unit for the provider, assisting to locate supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain the mobile unit to be operational at all times.
  • Remain with the mobile unit while in operation unless otherwise directed.
  • Assist with fueling company vehicles as needed.
  • Sweep the interior and use disinfecting wipes on cabinet handles, surfaces, and doors each day.
  • Remove all storage bins and supplies from the mobile unit as directed at the end of each day.
  • Clean the exterior of the mobile unit as needed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork including vehicle repair, incident and mileage logs, and checklists for set-up and clean-up at each location.
  • Maintains an effective filing system and files necessary (driver logs, vehicle logs, etc.) information promptly.
  • Assist with patient registration and intake paperwork, as needed.
  • Perform an inventory of mobile unit supplies (not including medical) as directed.
  • Report restocking needs to the Transportation Supervisor weekly.
  • Maintenance concerns should be reported immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  • Communicate professionally with staff and patients.
  • Responsible for all scheduled maintenance, needed repairs, fueling, and documentation of all of these
  • Report any safety concern or otherwise, to Transportation Supervisor.
  • Work in close contact with the team to ensure proper transportation to and from services
  • Maintains client confidentiality at all times.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and implements them.
  • Communicates details regarding all systems and changes with staff members.
  • Prepares confidential and non-confidential correspondence in a professional style and format.
  • Relays information to the public as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, both programmatic and agency-wide.
  • Attend appropriate training for the position and continuing education provided by the agency.
  • Assist the Facilities staff when directed to include traveling to site locations, and moving and assembling furniture. Maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs and ballasts, touch-up painting, addressing plumbing issues, and any other facilities duties as directed.
  • Assisting or acting as Transportation Aides as assigned, performing or scheduling maintenance needs of SHR vehicles, and filing driver logs from SHR vehicles
  • Serve as a customer service representative with clients and others while away from the office providing transportation.
  • Transport clients to and from services of the agency in the agency vans in a safe and timely manner when needed.
  • Keep a client transportation and vehicle mileage log.
  • Adhere to the priority schedule for transportation, when appropriate
  • Assist in other duties when not performing on the mobile units.
  • High School education or G.E.D.
  • Current CDL driver’s license, with a good driving record for three years, or period of licensure, whichever is shorter.
