PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To facilitate the efficient and effective operations of the Special Education Central Office and provide clerical services to the evaluation staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of special education preferred
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student information
Excellent organization, planning, and computer skills
Good interpersonal and telephone skills
Experience:
One year of secretarial experience, preferably in a public school environment
Prefer two to four years of work experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Mail and track meeting notices as directed by evaluation staff.
2. Make reminder calls to parent of all scheduled meetings.
3. Process completed paperwork by mailing parent copies and filing folder copies.
4. Copy, assemble, and send Special Education packets, including initial referral, transfer, and requests for further testing.
5. Schedule and distribute reevaluation paperwork as directed by evaluation staff members.
6. Receive reevaluation forms from school staff and parents. Upload completed paperwork into special education software program and provide completed reevaluation folders to evaluation staff.
7. Track OT/PT Physician Prescriptions and assist related service personnel in obtaining required updates.
8. Perform any other duties deemed necessary by evaluation staff, special education secretary, and/or director of special education.
