We are seeking a Private Credit Data Scientist to sit at the intersection of software and data engineering, supporting back/middle office teams across portfolio analytics, automated reporting, accounting automation, and AI-driven workflows. This would be with our New York-based alternative asset manager client specializing in private/public credit and real estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automation and portfolio monitoring tools for liquidity management, accounting processes, risk reporting, performance attribution, and security master
- Design scalable data pipelines that ingest and transform structured and unstructured credit data; own data quality, validation, and lineage standards
- Develop automated reporting solutions for portfolio management and operations, including fund-level performance, risk metrics, and senior leadership dashboards
- Partner with the accounting team to automate financial calculations and fund accounting workflows, integrating accounting data with investment systems
- Collaborate with engineering, investment professionals, and operations to translate business requirements into production-ready analytical tools
- Contribute to AI and automation initiatives, including applying machine learning and language models to credit document analysis and workflow automation
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in a software engineering, data science, or analytics role within private credit, structured finance, lending, or a related credit domain
- Prior experience in fixed income or credit investing is strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and pipeline development; hands-on experience with SQL and cloud data warehouses
- Demonstrated ability to build back/middle office software — risk, performance, cash flow, or accounting applications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with accounting and operations data at a credit firm
- Experience working with C# or React is preferred
- Experience with GraphQL APIs, Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure, or event-driven data architectures
- Working knowledge of large language models applied to financial document analysis or workflow automation
- Experience building self-serve dashboards or analytical tools for investment or finance teams
- Self-start with strong communication and collaboration with business users

Salary : $165,000 - $175,000
