Key Responsibilities
Setup & Operation
- Prepare and install molds, tooling, and auxiliary equipment according to production schedules.
- Set and adjust machine parameters to achieve consistent part quality and cycle times.
- Perform start-ups, changeovers, and shutdowns following standard operating procedures.
- Monitor production runs and adjust processes to maintain product quality and minimize scrap.
- Identify and troubleshoot molding defects such as short shots, flash, burns, or dimensional issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to implement process improvements and corrective actions.
- Perform routine machine and mold maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
- Ensure all equipment is operating within manufacturer and safety guidelines.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures, including PPE use and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Maintain accurate production and process records, including setup sheets, changeover logs, and downtime reports.
- Communicate process changes and issues to supervisors, engineers, and incoming shifts.
- Assist in training operators and junior technicians on proper molding techniques.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 2–5 years of injection molding experience, including machine setup and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of various thermoplastic materials and their processing requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and process documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.
