Utility Locator (Experienced) – Full Time

Job Summary

Join our team of experienced locators! United Locating Services is seeking a motivated and skilled Utility Locator to accurately locate and mark underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation and construction activities. This is a field-based, road/route position that plays a critical role in protecting utility infrastructure and ensuring public safety.

We are looking for individuals with at least 1 year of experience in utility locating and/or damage prevention.

What You’ll Do (Essential Duties)

• Underground Utility Detection: Use company-provided locating equipment to locate and mark underground utilities (gas, electric, communications, etc.).
• Mapping & Documentation: Accurately document located utilities and job details using required systems and tools.
• Communication & Coordination: Partner with construction crews, project managers, and other stakeholders to confirm scope, markings, and potential hazards.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
• Problem Solving: Identify and respond to field challenges quickly, prioritizing safe and accurate outcomes.
• Mobile/Route Work: Travel between assigned job sites throughout the day and work outdoors in varying conditions.

• Full-Time
• Schedule varies based on operational needs, typically 8–10 hours per day
  
  

Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid, unexpired Driver’s License
• 1 year of utility locating and/or damage prevention experience
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adapt to different job sites
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Physically able to walk, stand, bend, and lift as needed in outdoor field environments
  
  

Additional Preferred Qualifications (Nice To Have)

• Familiarity with utility locating equipment and related technology
• Experience documenting work in mobile apps/systems used for locating
  
  

Pay Range

$22.00/hour – $25.00/hour, based on locating experience.
