POSITION OBJECTIVES: To provide members with a personalized and courteous service
using efficient design and staking engineering practices that will deliver economical and reliable service to our client's members/customers and help meet the objectives of the client; and to work and communicate in a team-oriented environment in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of the Company.

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Require a high school diploma or equivalent. Require courses in high school or beyond in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and CAD drafting. Prefer two (2) years of post-high school education. Preferred course work in drafting, engineering or computer science.
EXPERIENCE: This is an entry level position, and there is no minimum experience
requirements. Prefer experience with land survey crews, operation of GPS equipment and use of technology as it pertains to CAD drafting. Prefer experience in electrical distribution including, staking layout for construction, mapping and line construction specifications.
KNOWLEDGE: Require the ability to develop a working knowledge of the required educational subjects as applied to staking and system mapping. Require the ability to develop a thorough working knowledge of the Client's staking activities, construction specification manual, geographic information system, work order processes, and customer relations. Requires the ability to proficiently utilize all computer systems used in the work order process, including the work order program, customer information system, and automated staking system. Require the ability to develop a working knowledge of the basic principles of electricity and A C circuits.
Require the ability to develop a working knowledge of Joint use requirements, specifications and the permitting process for utilities.
Require willingness to pursue a continuous program of self-development both inside and
outside of work hours in furthering his/her knowledge to develop in the job and accept
increasing responsibilities.
SKILLS: Require effective leadership skills, excellent professional communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to work in a team environment.
Require the ability to apply the required technical knowledge to accomplish the staking and design of basic line extensions with normal supervision.
Require the ability to apply codes and procedures, and exercise judgment
in their broad aspects for occasional independent action or decision. Require the ability to meet schedules and standards of assigned work and contribute to an effective flow of work. Require the ability to develop and maintain effective supportive relationships, influence others to the desired course of action in contacts with members in discussion of problems and gain and acceptance of the Client's policies, rules and regulations.

Internal: Actively participates within the Company's team environment to develop supportive relationships essential to the success of the functions of this position and to the overall Company spirit.
External: Develops and maintains supportive relationships with Company Employees, Clients, the general public, and other external contacts to assure positive results.
This position is primarily sedentary work; requires visual acuity in machine operation with
inspection: requires ability to hear, talk, and perform repetitive motions; and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS WORKING WITH COMPANY CLIENTS
- Generate work order package according to departmental procedures. Proficiently utilize
all computer systems used in the work order process, including the work order program,
customer information system, and automated staking system.
- Work with member consumers and builders to answer questions and provide technical
information.
- Be familiar with standard utility materials and construction methods to provide expertise
in the design and layout of electrical construction.
Coordinate job assignments with Company Client's personnel, other utilities and governmental bodies, including obtaining required permits, obtaining underground conductors locates, and work involving joint use agreements. Obtain right-of-way easements and properly fill out all related documents as required.
Compute overhead and underground service cost estimates for supervisor approval.
Communicate with Company Client's members/customers regarding provisions of the Client's Service Rules and Regulations, requirements for service, timetables of construction, electric rate schedules, and fees for services provided by Company Client's.
Assist in maintaining territorial integrity and making proper determinations regarding the
service area in which prospective consumers are located.
- Develop a working knowledge of the basic principles of the National Electric Code (as it
applies to requirements of construction by members and interface with the utility), the
National Electric Safety Code (as it applies to appropriate clearances to the line
construction design, including all vertical and horizontal clearances and clearances to
other utilities), RUS line specifications, and the Cooperative Service Rules and
Regulations. Require an understanding of the procedures which relate to assigned
responsibilities.
- Develop a working knowledge of state and local DOT requirements and regulations.
Prepare all applicable and necessary permits.
Make mapping error corrections in the field or office as required.
Provide engineering field assistance to operations personnel as required or directed.
Provide technical assistance during emergency outages as required or directed.
Attend job training and safety meetings as required.
Be familiar with and follow the best safety practices set forth in the Company's Safety
Manual.
Attend and participate in meetings as required or directed.
Perform such other duties as may be required or directed.
