Department Description
We are a comprehensive breast imaging center providing services across nine fixed locations and two Mobile Mammography Units. The expert and caring staff at Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health are fellowship-trained, board-certified specialists who focus on breast health. We conduct hundreds of mammograms each week and diagnose and treat more than four hundred patients each year.
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, you will utilize specialized knowledge and skills to produce high-quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures, and DEXA exams for specified patient population.
As an imaging professional, you'll be aligned with the latest technology, evidence-based medicine, and clinical research.

For technologists with no prior mammography experience we offer a comprehensive 12-week training program that will equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to provide high-quality breast care.
For experienced technologists we provide an abbreviated training program that includes a comprehensive review of our protocols, machines, and IT platforms.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, utilizes specialized knowledge and skills to produce high quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures and DEXA exams for specified patient population. Assumes responsibility for directing and controlling qualitative and quantitative standards of work performed at Bearden-Josey Centers of Breast Health.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Associate's Degree from an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology
Experience
- Documented 40 hours of training specific to mammography as required by the FDA
- Documented 8 hours training in each mammography modality to be used to perform exam as required by the FDA
- Documented performance of 200 mammogram exams in the last two years as required by the FDA
- Documented 15 hours of continuing education, 3 years consecutively as required by the FDA
License/Registration/Certifications
- ARRT registry in Radiography with registry or registry eligible status in Mammography
- South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Licenses
- Current Basis Life Support (CPR and AED) provider

Core Job Responsibilities
- Perform screening and/or diagnostic mammograms and bone densitometry exams
- Assist radiologist with invasive breast procedures
- Review images for quality and tissue acquisition
- Explain procedure to patient reducing anxieties and obtain patient history relevant to exam
- As requested by radiologist communicate results to patient
- Open communication with scheduling and registration to ensure appropriate physician order is obtained
- Engagement with Breast Imaging Navigator as needed to assist with further patient needs or appointments
- General equipment assessment, reporting any issues to Breast
- Other Duties as assigned
