POSITION: Maintenance Mechanic

Progressively responsible experience in maintenance / mechanical work
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs skilled and remedial work in completing preventative maintenance and related activities of school facilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform general maintenance work orders
- Repair and maintain all plumbing equipment and components
- Perform preventative maintenance on all categories
- Multi-skilled trade craft preferred
- Read and understand blueprints
- Know and understand standard practices, tools, and maintenance terminology
- Understand and implement standard safety practices
- Investigate and troubleshoot plumbing, mechanical, and basic electrical
- Follow written/oral instructions and perform all assigned duties
- Respond to after-hours emergencies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance
- Work with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, wetness, and heights. Work includes the use of paints and strong agents, which require proper handling and use. The job requires occasional strenuous physical exertion in lifting and moving items weighing up to seventy-fifty pounds. Routine local travel requires the operation of a vehicle, maintenance equipment, machinery, and tools. Work assignments often require constant focus and attention.
