1st Shift - Shift Leader
General Summary
The Shift Leader supervises and engages in overall day-to-day production operation of
assigned shift ensuring attainment of safety, quality, productivity and support service
requirements and goals. Provides direction, feedback and training to team members,
equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully perform their jobs.
Encompasses Spartan’s Core Operating Values in daily activities which contributes to
the attainment of operational metrics / goals and strong team member relations.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities-essential Functions
Required: High School Diploma/GED, 3 years manufacturing and maintenance experience, 2 Years Supervisory experience.
Preferred: Die cast experience. Certification machine technology or related field.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities-essential Functions
- Provides daily supervision in production and support operations. Continuously available on the production floor monitoring activities, auditing, and handling various production problems.
- Ensures procedures/practices and work instructions are being followed. Assigns and monitors work assignments, and coordinates support services activities.
- Coordinates and performs/assists with various operational tasks, including material handling/towmotor operation, shipping and receiving, die cast machine operation, die cast tool setup, tool repair, and machine maintenance support as required or needed.
- Ensures equipment preventative maintenance is completed, including furnace sludging.
- Expects and demands high quality focus among all team members. Understands the quality standards for all parts. Frequently audits team member’s products. Supports and challenges quality team members on their decisions.
- Promotes safe work practices among all team members and leads by example. Observes, corrects and documents safe work practices. Routinely performs safety audits. Adheres to “Zero Tolerance” for unsafe practices. Maintains a housekeeping schedule, performs housekeeping audits, and resolves issues.
- Accountable for team performance.
- Maintains effective communications with team members and management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in the interviewing and hiring process, coordinates staffing needs, and handles time and attendance.
- Accountable for team member performance. Ensures team members are trained and knowledgeable of their assigned tasks. Handles disciplinary actions, ongoing performance feedback, performance appraisals and time approval.
- Builds and maintains teamwork within team and within site. Resolves conflicts between team members and with other teams. Facilitates in maintaining positive team member relations and morale.
