JOB TITLE: Plant Electrician

LOCATION: Sparta, IL

General Summary

Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within our manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of production lines and other plant equipment.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities-essential Functions

(Listed in order of time-spent or importance) - Includes the following, but not limited to:

  • Electrical Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in the manufacturing plant, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical malfunctions, identify issues, and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Installations: Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and systems for machinery and production lines.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations, as well as company safety standards.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Participate in the development and execution of a preventive maintenance program to enhance equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Equipment Upgrades: Assist in the installation of new electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to improve plant efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production and maintenance teams to resolve electrical issues that affect production schedules.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including parts used, equipment serviced, and safety checks performed.
  • Ability: To work overtime or take calls when needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Required: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal apprenticeship or technical training in electrical systems is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with a strong background in electrical maintenance.

Computer, Technical, Mechanical, Mathematical and/or Scientific Skills

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations required to complete all principle duties/assigned tasks.
  • Advanced technical and working knowledge of repair and maintenance for the following equipment: Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, and CNC.

Communication Skills – Verbal, Written, Training, Presenting, etc.

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with various team members and management.

Ability to train others and give constructive feedback to correct improper ways of performing job duties or to develop job skills.

Problem Solving skills and Decision-Making Skills

  • Proficient problem-solving skills. Ability to utilize knowledge and experience to solve complex mechanical problems, and to trouble shoot pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical failures.
  • Proficient decision-making skills. Ability to investigate, analyze and make decisions on how to solve basic to complex problems/issues and to provide solutions to create and improve processes.

Leadership Skills and/or Project Management Skills

  • Proficient team and task management skills, demonstrating the ability to: 1) coordinate and delegate work activities, 2) positively influence team performance, productivity, quality and safety goals, and
  • train and mentor team members.
  • Proficient team-building skills. Ability to create a shared sense of purpose, collaboration and effective communication between team members.

  • Ability to deal with stressful situations with tact and professionalism
  • Ability to monitor/review own work to ensure quality and thoroughness
  • Ability to travel to company locations if needed.
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage all areas of assigned responsibility

Required to follow all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures to support facility compliance.

Physical Demands

  • Stand, climb, bend, kneel, and stoop to perform job duties.
  • Use moderate physical effort in the use of hand tools, wrenches, hoists, pry bars, hammers, etc.
  • Carry weights of up to 50 pounds occasionally for short periods of times.
  • Work in confined spaces and perform tasks requiring climbing ladders or using aerial lifts.

Work Environment

Working conditions include: hot temperatures in the summer and cool temperatures in the winter; continuous noise. The office environment is well lighted, and climate controlled.

Salary : $35 - $45
