Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000 (based on experience)
Position Overview:
Seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for an automotive manufacturing facility in Holland, MI.
In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by resolving production issues and providing engineering support for new product introductions and existing processes. You will lead process design and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material flow, reduce cost, and improve efficiency across manufacturing cells. The role also includes performing DOE analysis, supporting quality and audit-related investigations, and helping establish optimal production system configurations from material intake through final output.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide manufacturing engineering support to resolve production issues and support new product introductions
- Select, design, install, and modify equipment, tools, jigs, and fixtures for new and existing products
- Lead process flow and cell design using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Analyze product structures and manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and reduce cost
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process parameters for quality, cost, and cycle time
- Establish resource requirements and material flow using industrial engineering principles
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions (including 8D reporting) for internal/external audits and customer issues
- Assist in developing and implementing quality procedures, work instructions, and ISO/IATF compliance standards
- Monitor project timelines, objectives, and costs for assigned initiatives
- Support PFMEA, DFA/DFM, and other core manufacturing engineering quality tools
- May provide guidance or supervision to other engineering or support staff as needed
Position Levels & Progression:
Level I:
- Performs routine engineering work with detailed assignments, calculations, and standard tests
- Works under guidance with established procedures and defined objectives
- Applies basic engineering techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles
- Supports daily manufacturing needs with limited risk decisions
- Entry-level to early-career focus
Level II:
- 3 years of engineering or related experience
- Independently evaluates and adapts engineering procedures to solve moderately complex problems
- Strong understanding of machine design, equipment integration, and manufacturing controls
- Able to troubleshoot processes and develop effective technical solutions
- Supports project/program execution with moderate organizational impact
- Growing technical ownership and project responsibility
Level III:
- 8 years of progressive engineering or project/program management experience
- Full technical mastery with ability to work independently on complex assignments
- Leads large-scale projects and may supervise or mentor staff
- Develops long-term technical strategies and process improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership in managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams
- High-level problem solving with significant organizational impact
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience level aligned to Level I–III progression
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
- Experience with machine/equipment design and production system integration
- Knowledge of controls, machine dynamics, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action (8D)
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with DOE, PFMEA, and DFMA/DFA preferred
- Automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience strongly preferred
