Position Title: EHS Manager
Location: Port Huron, MI
Pay: $85,000–$95,000/year
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Position Type: Direct Hire
Position Summary:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for leading and supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives at the plant level. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards while promoting a strong safety culture across all shifts.
This is a highly hands-on position that requires a visible presence on the production floor, working closely with employees and leadership to identify risks, drive continuous improvement, and maintain a safe working environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and support all plant-level EHS programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Coordinate and manage safety programs including training, audits, inspections, and safety committee activities.
- Investigate workplace incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Maintain and support ISO 14001 environmental management systems, including audits and compliance tracking.
- Act as the primary EHS resource for employees and leadership regarding safety and environmental concerns.
- Drive a proactive safety culture by being actively engaged on the production floor and working directly with employees.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, including documentation and communication with employees and third-party administrators.
- Monitor and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe operation of equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
- Support plant operations across multiple shifts, including responding to off-shift incidents as needed.
- Travel between nearby facilities as required to support EHS initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment (5 years preferred)
- Experience with ISO 14001 standards and environmental compliance
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices
- Hands-on experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), crane safety, and forklift safety
- Proven ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a strong floor presence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with a proactive, “go-getter” attitude
- Willingness to work weekends and support off-shift incidents as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in plastic injection molding environments
- Previous experience supporting large manufacturing facilities (multi-shift, high headcount)
Work Environment & Expectations:
- Supports approximately 650 employees across 3 shifts
- Must be open to working a minimum of 2 Saturdays per month (potentially more based on business needs)
- Requires flexibility to respond to after-hours safety incidents
- This is a fully onsite, hands-on role (not a desk-based position)
