Job Summary
The Senior BI Developer position requires a dedication to producing high-quality output and proactive involvement in the successful delivery of BI systems—on time, on function, and through coordination within the rest of the technology department and the business owners. The Senior BI Developer is responsible for designing and implementing database systems that adequately support the BI and reporting needs of the organization. This role requires thorough knowledge of data warehousing, BI tools, and ETL systems.
The candidate must have a good understanding of the business needs and technical capabilities and be able to align BI solutions to meet the organization’s growth objectives.
- Convert business requirements into actionable technical requirements for current and upcoming projects
- Provide technical leadership within the BI team in the design process for approved projects
- Design and build reporting and analysis tools that help streamline business processes and make reporting, analyzing, planning, and forecasting more efficient
- Present and propose scalable, flexible, and maintainable solutions with a focus on timely delivery
- Mentor and train developers in current technology, policies, processes, and standards
- Interpret business requirements into technical database solutions
- Propose logical solutions and data fixes
- Collaborate with project managers, directors, and IT department clients from a business and process perspective
- Work with other SMEs and technical support teams to achieve technically sound solutions
- Demonstrate resourcefulness and perseverance in finding data from available sources and working with large datasets
- Design and implement database systems supporting the enterprise data of the organization
- Apply strong leadership and technical expertise in designing and developing enterprise-class data warehouse systems
- Formulate designs and recommendations that meet various requirements while balancing existing goals and constraints
- 3 years of retail energy industry experience (required)
- Proficiency in SQL
- Demonstrated knowledge of BI solutions and best practices for database development
- Proficient with Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS)
- Ability to work well under pressure with short timelines
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and remain flexible in a dynamic environment
