Lead Dental Assistant (RDA) Position
Our dental practice is seeking a dedicated Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our team at Spark Dental. The Dental Assistant will be responsible for receiving patients, reviewing charts, and beginning patient preparation. We are looking for a team-oriented individual who is outgoing with impressive communication skills, organized, professional, service-minded and willing to go above and beyond the basic responsibilities of the job.
As a Dental Assistant, you will utilize your knowledge and skills to assist the dentist in daily treatment of our patients, provide excellent patient care, and participate in educating our patients on oral care and oral treatment.
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish required)
- RDA License (Current and in good standing)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on RDA experience in a clinical dental setting
- X-ray certification with demonstrated proficiency in taking panorex and periapical radiographs
- CPR certification (current)
- Emergency response training with knowledge of medical emergency protocols
Preferred Experience:
- 3 years of chairside assisting experience
- Experience with digital radiography systems
- Familiarity with dental practice management software
- Previous experience in multi-doctor practice environment
- Advanced training in infection control protocols
- Experience with laboratory coordination and dental materials
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Setting up and preparing the surgery before the start of each session
- Providing expert chairside assistance, anticipating doctor's needs to ensure smooth surgical flow
- Taking high-quality x-rays: panorex and periapical radiographs
- Accurately completing patient clinical records as directed
- Performing chaperoning duties for dentists and hygienists/therapists when treating patients
Sterilization & Safety:
- Clean and disinfect all equipment and working surfaces to required standards at the end of each session
- Maintain clinical areas and all equipment/instruments clean, tidy and sterile according to practice health and safety protocols
- Handle all substances in accordance with Health and Safety policies
- Ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste
- Comply with all infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions
Emergency Preparedness:
- React quickly in emergency situations to change/assemble equipment (full face mask, laryngoscope, endotracheal tubes, etc.)
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all emergency algorithms, medications and equipment
- Maintain current knowledge of CPR and medical emergency response procedures
Administrative & Support:
- Complete laboratory request forms and maintain records of work sent, received and fitted
- Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
- Maintain accurate computer/written records with secure storage protocols
- Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
- Assist with receptionist duties as required for efficient practice operation
Professional Development:
- Attend and participate in practice meetings
- Undergo continuing education training to develop skills and abilities
- Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR
- Act in accordance with practice rules and code of conduct
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness of surfaces, sinks, floors in surgeries and common areas (reception, office, staff room)
- Observe patient confidentiality at all times
- Provide excellent patient care with friendly, helpful and courteous manner
- Participate in patient education regarding oral care and treatment options
