Responsibilities
Assist dentists with a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all treatments are performed efficiently and safely. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments using aseptic techniques and maintaining infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when necessary, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as OpenDental, documenting treatment details and medical history thoroughly. Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist—scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and updating medical documentation. Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort during procedures to ensure a positive experience. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to assist with chairside procedures confidently.
Qualifications
A minimum of one year of dental clinic experience is preferred, with strong familiarity in dental assisting practices including X-ray techniques, infection control, and aseptic procedures. Proficiency in EMR systems like OpenDental or Dentrix is highly desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, medical coding, and medical documentation ensures accurate record-keeping. Experience working with pediatric patients and understanding pediatric dentistry protocols is a plus. Excellent communication skills are essential for coordinating with team members and providing compassionate patient care. Basic understanding of medical terminology, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and dental terminology will support your success in this role.
