Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Daily Operations & Scheduling: Coordinating office workflows, managing patient flow to minimize wait times, and optimizing the dentist’s and hygienists' schedules to maximize productivity.
- Personnel Management: Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new staff. They are also responsible for creating staff schedules, conducting performance reviews, and mediating interpersonal conflicts.
- Financial Oversight: Overseeing billing, processing insurance claims, managing accounts receivable, and handling patient payment plans. They often track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like production goals and collections.
- Patient Relations: Serving as the first point of contact for patient complaints and feedback. They also assist in presenting treatment plans to patients and explaining office policies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the practice adheres to safety and privacy laws, including HIPAA (patient data protection) and OSHA (workplace safety and sterilization protocols).
- Inventory & Facility Management: Monitoring supply levels, negotiating with vendors for better pricing, and arranging for equipment maintenance or facility repairs.
Dental Office Manager Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years in dental office administration or a similar healthcare management role.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Dentrix, OpenDental, or similar dental practice management software.
- Billing & Coding: In-depth knowledge of dental insurance billing, CDT codes, and processing claims.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of HIPAA (patient privacy) and OSHA (workplace safety) compliance.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, for financial tracking and correspondence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical Background: Prior experience as a Dental Assistant or Hygienist, providing clinical insight into the practice’s daily workflow.
- Specialty Experience: Knowledge of general dentistry procedures.

Pay: $24.14 - $29.07 per hour
