General Purpose
Under the supervision of the Cemetery Sexton the Cemetery Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties in a park setting or similar facilities and performs related work as required.

General Purpose
Under the supervision of the Cemetery Sexton the Cemetery Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties in a park setting or similar facilities and performs related work as required.
Essential Functions
As directed by the Cemetery Sexton, performs the following cemetery duties:
- Performs maintenance of landscaped grounds, including inspecting, mowing, weeding, tree, shrub and turf trimming, and vegetation planting and removal.
- Performs maintenance of irrigation system including installation, repair and controller operation.
- Performs trash collection; removes and disposes of old grave decorations.
- Performs maintenance of facilities, including restroom maintenance and cleaning; minor repairs to equipment and structures.
- Safely Operates hand and power tools such as shovel, rake, push mower, line trimmer, chain saw, sod cutter, soil tamper and snow blower. Operates light to heavy equipment, such as backhoe, dump truck, tractor and riding mower.
- Opens and closes burial sites; installs and sets headstones; sets forms and pours concrete for headstone bases and repairs broken headstones; fills around and levels headstones and grave positions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must have professional, positive attitude with good communication skills; be productive while working alone and with others. Employee is expected to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
- Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position.
- Must abide by all city policies and procedures.
- Must have Utah State Pesticide Applicators License in Ornamental and Turf Category or pass exam within 1 year of hire date.
- Must have transportation to and from work and speak English.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Working knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, insects, and diseases.
- Working knowledge of landscape maintenance and related equipment operation.
- Ability to safely operate various landscape maintenance and repair equipment and tools.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Must be a self-motivated, open minded problem solver that adapts readily to change.
- Surroundings involve contact with outdoors, dust, dirt, heat, cold, arid/dry, humidity, wetness noise, fumes and vibrations. Requires working with and around other employees. Occasionally requires working alone.
- Health and Safety conditions include constantly dealing with soil, water and plant materials. Occasionally dealing with toxic materials and chemicals.
- Physical activities include constant standing, kneeling, crouching, handling, balancing, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and carrying. Requires occasional jumping, crawling, sitting, climbing, throwing and feeling. Requires talking, hearing, and seeing. Requires ability to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance.
- Physical dimensions include strength necessary in hands, arms, legs, and back. Requires constant eye/hand coordination with occasional foot/eye/hand coordination. Occasionally requires vision strain, rapid speed work, and extreme muscular exertion, along with finger, hand/arm, and foot/leg dexterity.
