Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for a Chief of Logistics to support MD2 SZG (NH-0346-04, GS 14/15 equivalent).

Description

The successful candidate will manage/execute acquisition logistics responsibilities for assigned programs while guiding, advising, and mentoring a staff of program managers, engineers, and logistics managers, who are performing acquisition capability developing. The Chief of Logistics provides product support planning and consultation to the system delta. The successful candidate will meet with and collaborate with materiel leaders, contracting officers, financial managers, government support providers, and industry partners, as required to further product support.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Chief of Logistics position will have earned a technical, logistics or business Bachelor's Degree and preferably have a related Master's Degree, possess or be able to obtain and Advanced Certification Life Cycle Logistics and ideally have achieved Foundational Certification in one other functional area such as Program Management, Engineering, or Financial Management. A strong Space background is highly desirable. Possess ten years delivering Materiel Capabilities to DoD Warfighters is essential; and a prior military background in operations or maintenance is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be a DoD and USAF/USSF Policy Expert, a skilled technical and managerial analyst, an innovative action officer, and a strong leader.

The Chief of Logistics is a NH-346-04 supervisor for government logisticians in multiple squadrons and requires significant skills and experience in logistics product support arrangements, Depot Source of Repair (DSOR), Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Materiel Shortages (DMSMS), Logistics Requirements Determination Process (LRDP), Weapon System Sustainment (WSS) Program Objective Memorandum (POM) processes, acquisition and contracts management, DoD financial management, personnel management, engineering management, and life cycle logistics. The Chief of Logistics must exhibit sound day-to-day oversight and management of assigned programs and management of logistics initiatives throughout the System Delta, be a self-starter, have strong collaboration skills, be highly motivated, resilient, and an expert problem solver.

• Knowledge of the logistics management principles, concepts, policies, and laws; logistics functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve logistics problems; and all aspects of life cycle integrated logistics support.
• Ability to lead a team and/or individual members of a team ensuring the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the teams ' strategies, goals, objectives, work. Plans, and work products and services. Ability to advise/guide personnel and achieve organizational goals, objectives, and work plans. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of the missions, roles, function, organizational structures, and operation of the Department of Defense and other entities that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process and integrated life cycle management.
• Skill in stratifying resources against approved programs; planning, presenting, and executing budgets; analyzing budget impacts on programs; forecasting long-term funding requirements; reviewing, evaluating, and presenting data; and supporting analysis of logistics management programs and activities' specialized documentation, etc.
• Ability to plan, analyze, and coordinate a system or portion of a major system's acquisition and transfer into operational use; to include the identification and correlation of specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program; and to develop and analyze data to determine logistic objectives and goals, identify support requirements (including funding, contract development, and other technical support requirements), and establish relationships between the participants involved in deploying the plan.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases. Gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
• This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
• Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.” Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
• Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
• Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
• This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
• Subject to Temporary Duty Station (TDY) approximately 20 days per year.
• PCS is authorized. Incentive is authorized.
• Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
• The employee’s locality pay will be determined by the employee’s official worksite location, not the organization’s regular worksite and may impact the employee’s Reduction in Force (RIF) competitive area.
