What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Guest Safety Officer, up to $24.62 position at Space Needle?
The Guest Safety Officer, part of the Security team, is responsible for overseeing the safety and integrity of all Team Members, Guests, and property associated with the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass.
Guest Safety Officers are expected to become proficient in the various technologies and programs used to provide 24/7 video surveillance of all associated properties, as well as be comfortable with a variety of de-escalation and emergency response/First-Aid techniques. Flexible schedules are preferred due to the 24/7 nature of the operation. Some early morning or late-night shifts may be required.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Be a communications specialist: Officers must be able to interact with fellow Team Members and Guests in a variety of high stress situations while maintaining a calm demeanor and respectful tone.
- Ensure that key and card access control procedures are followed.
- Prepare daily log on a consistent basis, display proficient written communication and record keeping skills.
- Rove and patrol the premises to ensure the safety of the Space Needle/Chihuly Garden and Glass, as well as their Guests and employees.
- Review video footage periodically for potential problems or breeches of security.
- Complete thorough incident reports in a timely fashion.
- Properly utilize radio while on duty to answer all calls and provide updated information to Security Dispatch.
- Assist with emergency preparedness: i.e., earthquakes, fires etc.
- Screen Guests using Evolv threat detections systems and handheld wands.
- Use Avigilon camera system. Be able to negotiate the system to troubleshoot or view previous video.
- Provide a strong visual presence in all retail areas, being careful to observe and report possible/actual shoplifting activities.
- Take steps to ensure proper mask use by both Team Members and Guests.
- As needed, assist in safely removing and escorting people from company property, working with external security or law enforcement if necessary.
- Incorporate and support initiatives that improve overall health and wellness.
- Assist in the ongoing training of fellow Team Members in the operation in the Guests Safety Officer position.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Prefer experience with security – civilian or military.
- Excellent verbal, guest service, and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate two-way radio, communications and surveillance system equipment.
- Ability to multi-task under busy and/or stressful situations.
- Strong computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and other databases.
- Confidence and proficiency in ability to defuse hostile situations with verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Physical requirements include preforming physical activities inherent to security patrol duties, such as bending, walking, running, standing, and rapidly ascending or descending stairs in a high-rise structure as needed for the duration of a shift.
Full Time, Hourly Position
Hourly Rate: $19.62 - $22.62 / hour $2.00 / hour overnight premium (Wage of $22.62 based on completing 6 training certifications in your first 90 days of employment)
