Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.
We are currently seeking a full-time IT Support Technician responsible for offering support and technical assistance to end users who are using software, hardware, or other computer systems and need help completing tasks or troubleshooting problems through diagnostic tests and remote access to their computers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responding to queries via chat, email, or phone
- Training other staff members on troubleshooting and diagnosing problems
- Writing, editing, and revising training manuals for new and updated software and hardware
- Configure and support endpoint management tools and group policies
- Install and troubleshoot software and hardware for specialized user needs
- Assist with system patching, updates, and endpoint security measures
- Support onboarding/offboarding processes and maintain accurate asset records
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Technician I staff
- Document procedures, troubleshooting steps, and knowledge base articles
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate in IT or related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 2 years of experience in IT support or helpdesk roles
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration and Active Directory basics
- Strong troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and network issues
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Either currently possess or obtain within first year of hire:
- CompTIA Security
- CompTIA Tech /A or comparable experience
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Card
- Any applicable heavy machinery qualifications/certifications required
PHYSICAL ABILITIES / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and the ability to pass a drug screen test.
- Works well under pressure at times due to time constraints.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairways, and negotiate close spaces with a maximum of 18” clearance and regularly lift weight of approximately 35 lbs. alone.
- Ability to respond to work emergencies or work extended hours in the event of an emergency.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, shifts, and holidays.
- Must have the maturity to work with little or no supervision.
