Job Summary
The Daycare Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Sowing Seeds Academy, a faith-based, high-quality childcare and education ministry of Geneva United Methodist Church, so that all children in the program's care can develop their God-given potential physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially, and spiritually in a safe and loving environment. This involves recruiting and leading daycare staff, recruiting and enrolling new students, communicating with parents/guardians, ensuring that all regulations are being followed, and providing assistance with children as needed. The Daycare Director also works with the Daycare Board to set tuition and wages, create a budget, set policy, coordinate the relationship with the larger church, and set goals for the program.
Sowing Seeds Academy
Sowing Seeds Academy is a faith-based, high-quality childcare and education ministry of Geneva United Methodist Church that enrolls approximately 50 children (ages 6 weeks through 12 years) and employs 10-15 part-time and full-time staff at a given time. Our hours of operation are 6:00 A.M - 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. We seek to impact children and their families with the love and message of Jesus Christ, and we strive to provide a safe and loving environment where children are supported in developing their God-given potential physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. We have a sensitive and caring staff that works in partnership with parents/guardians and families, and our teaching reflects a high regard for each child's uniqueness.
Duties
- Recruit, hire, fire, train, schedule, manage, supervise, support, and evaluate staff.
- Hold regular staff meetings.
- Provide continuing education opportunities for staff.
- Recruit and enroll new students, meeting with and giving tours to their families before they begin receiving care.
- Build relationships with and communicate with parents/guardians of children, making sure we have all the necessary paperwork for each child.
- Ensure that the facility and staff are abiding by all state/local licensing requirements and that all regulations and policies are being followed.
- Ensure that all Sowing Seeds Academy policies are being followed.
- Provide assistance in the classroom and with children as needed.
- Ensure that supplies and food are ordered and well-stocked.
- Utilize the Procare App to communicate with staff and parents/guardians.
- Serve as a member of the Daycare Board, working together with them to set tuition and wages, create a budget, set policy, coordinate the relationship with the larger church, and set program goals/strategy.
- Lead the program in implementing strategies to accomplish its goals.
Qualifications
- Must meet at least one of the following DHHS qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 6 credit hours in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development; Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development; Child Development Associate Credential; or a high school diploma/GED and 3,000 hours in organized activities for young children (verified by a reference from a former employer or supervisor)
