Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process insurance verification efficiently using systems such as Athenahealth,
- Collect and review medical documentation, including intake forms, new patient paperwork, and medical history, ensuring accuracy for billing and record-keeping purposes
- Manage medical records by filing, retrieving, and updating patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support office management duties such as maintaining supplies, managing appointment reminders, and ensuring a clean and organized front desk area
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Athenahealth is a plus
- Ability to verify insurance benefits including Medicare and private insurers; experience with insurance verification processes is preferred
- Excellent phone etiquette with multi-line phone system proficiency; strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
- Attention to detail in documentation review and data entry; ability to handle sensitive patient information securely in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
- Prior clinic office experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
