Patient Access Specialist
FLSA Non-exempt, Full-time Friday - Tuessday

$16-$17.91/hour DOE $2.50/hr for hours worked on Saturday and Sunday

Position Summary
Position Requirements:
Position is based in Butte but may require travel to Anaconda occasionally - company cars are available and as such a valid driver's license and clean driving record is required. General office/clinic conditions are pleasant; good, clean working conditions where accident and hazards are negligible. Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with the staff and public. Work is scheduled and performed during clinic hours of M-F 8am-7pm and Sat-Sun 8-5. This particular position's normal schedule will be Friday - Tuesday. Schedules may require flexibility according to the needs of the clinic. Differential is paid for hours worked on weekends. Work in varying degrees of temperature (heated or air conditioned). Work under extreme pressures. With or without accommodation, position generally requires sitting for approximately 4-6 hours per day and walking for 2 hours per day, light to moderate work with 20 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry, reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.

Position Summary
- Under the general direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Patient Access Specialist (PAS) works in various areas of the medical and dental clinic as an integral part of the clinic team.
- The PAS performs responsible and detailed clerical duties necessary to prepare patients for a visit and ensure smooth internal processing related to billing.
- The PAS will answer phone calls, check patients in and out, verify patient income and eligibility for our sliding fee.
- Collect and post payments, and schedule appointments and reappointments when necessary.
- PAS greets patients, prepares medical charts, gathers third-party payment information, and collects and records payments at the time of service.
- The PAS answers and triages incoming phone calls, as well as delivers messages to departments, clinicians, and providers.
- The PAS is also responsible for verifying insurance coverage, sliding-fee eligibility, and assisting with the system used for providing reminders to patients.
- This position may occasionally work on a weekend day with premium pay or travel to Anaconda in a company car to cover shifts during the week.
Position Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; some higher education preferred.
- Two years prior experience in an office or administrative role required.
- Two years prior experience in a high-volume customer service setting required.
- One year prior health care office experience is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with Epic preferred.
- Must be skilled in the use of a computer and modern technology and comfortable learning new technology
