LOCAL CDL DRIVER ($28-$31/hr)
Southwest Mobile Storage in Rancho Cucamonga is looking for an expert CDL-A driver. You are the eyes, ears and heart of our business, connecting operations and sales to provide the best service to our customers. We’re a team-oriented company, so there will be times when you’ll be asked to adjust your route or delivery schedule and use your own independent judgement.
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition and report any defects to dispatch or management.
- Follow designated routes to ensure timely delivery and pickup of containers.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding delivery/pickup details and handle C.O.D. payments when applicable.
- Complete daily logs and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) to comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs and towing capacity exceeding 10,000 lbs.
- Handle and transport containers securely, ensuring safety during transport.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, refueling, and tire checks, to keep the vehicle running efficiently.
- Maintain open communication with dispatch to update delivery status and ensure timely service.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to drive a 10-speed manual transmission.
- 2 years’ recent CDL Class A experience
- Valid medical certificate and physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle.
- At least 21 years of age
- Must possess good dexterity in shoulders, lower back and knees.
- High school diploma or GED
- Authorized for employment in the U.S. (sponsorships not available, E-Verify employer)
- Ability to pass 10 panel drug tests
- Ability to pass a thorough background screening and MVR
Preferred Skills Needed for Success:
- Prior experience with a heavy duty 10-wheel rollback winch truck with hydraulic tilt bed a plus
- Towing experience a plus
- Landoll trailer experience helpful
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Have a safety-oriented mind set
