JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Health Center Director, the Activities Supervisor provides residents in the licensed healthcare settings with recreational therapy services that meet the physical, mental, spiritual and psychosocial wellbeing along with the individualized needs and interests of our residents. The Activities Supervisor respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. This is a safety sensitive position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems with the input and guidance of the HC Director and Human Resources as needed.
- Maintains an effective and compassionate activities staff; monitors skill levels while training, coaching and encouraging subordinates to use and enhance their skills.
- Must be able to motivate while maintaining good working relationships with staff, residents and families. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Develop and distribute monthly calendar of activities and events to residents.
- Provide clinical services including one to one treatment, group treatments (1:4 ratio), co-treatments with other disciplines and community outings.
- Conduct assessments, interviews and chart reviews with clients/residents and/or family members.
- Plan and development of activity programs and treatment sessions.
- Maintain documentation such as assessments, treatment/progress notes, MDS, CAAs, care plans, and daily charting.
- Implement treatment interventions based on client’s assessed needs, abilities, and limitations.
- Evaluate efficacy and effectiveness of treatment interventions in relation to client progress.
- Comply with Federal and State regulations, as well as professional Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Attend meetings as part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide consultation to the nursing staff in providing physical, cognitive, emotional/behavioral, leisure and social interventions to clients.
- Supervise activity staff and Health Center volunteers.
- Educate and advocate for Recreational Therapy and Therapeutic Recreation programs.
- Attend and participate in professional workshops, conferences, and/or seminars to keep abreast of recent research and techniques.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted primarily in health care facility. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. This position frequently requires working within strict deadlines, under stressful conditions and with a variety of personalities, who may at times be emotional.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- One to two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years; one year of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program. Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
- Nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred.
- Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills required.
- Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office suite.
