What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control Warehouse Lead position at Southside Market & Bbq Inc?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Warehouse Cleanliness & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and highly efficient warehouse environment across dry storage, freezer, finished goods (FG) cooler, and raw cooler areas.
- Collaborate with production supervisor to determine optimal layout and storage logic for dry storage, freezer, and FG areas.
- Lead warehouse employees in executing the approved layout plans for all warehouse zones.
- Uphold standards for product organization, ensuring items are neatly down-stacked, condensed, and placed correctly on pallets.
- Maintain cleanliness standards by directing staff to pick up debris, sweep, and wash down warehouse areas, including the loading dock.
2. Inbound & Outbound Shipping Management
- Ensure all incoming and outgoing products are accurately accounted for, properly documented, and handled with efficiency.
- Manage and maintain scheduled appointments for all inbound and outbound shipments, coordinating with production to ensure accuracy.
- Check in all visitors and truck drivers arriving at the facility.
- Review and cross-reference all Bills of Lading (BOLs) to verify the accuracy of received and shipped products.
- Record incoming product temperature logs, with oversight from the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Ensure the warehouse team is adequately prepared to process outgoing orders ahead of scheduled times.
- Identify and report any product concerns, including quality defects, labeling issues, shelf-life variances, or out-of-spec materials.
3. Inventory Accuracy
- Maintain highly accurate real-time inventory counts through consistent verification, documentation, and system utilization.
- Ensure the warehouse team conducts regular inventory counts as determined by plant leadership.
- Identify and report unusual inventory usage patterns, variances, or concerning stock levels.
- Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS), such as RF Smart, to properly track and manage inventory movement and accuracy.
4. Process Improvement & Implementation
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and lead the implementation of new warehouse processes to enhance team efficiency.
- Evaluate warehouse operations to identify areas needing improvement.
- Develop improvement plans in collaboration with plant leadership.
- Lead implementation efforts by training warehouse personnel on new processes and ensuring successful adoption.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a safe, compliant warehouse environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure adherence to all warehouse safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines.
- Identify, address, and report any safety hazards or compliance concerns immediately.
Skills and Experienced Required:
- Ability to operate a forklift with prior experience. Forklift certification preferred.
- 1 to 2 years prior plant or warehouse experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license required.
- Clean and verifiable driving record (verified through background check).
- Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk & climb during course of shift/workday.
- Physically able to lift between 50 - 70 pounds.
- Strong skills in working with people.
- Cooperative, strong work ethic, positive attitude, professional demeanor.
- Ability to discern problems and devise solutions.
