Scope Of Responsibilities
The SabreKids Time Afterschool Assistant supports the Beyond the Classroom Director in the planning, coordination, and implementation of a high-quality afterschool program for early childhood and elementary students. This role fosters a safe, engaging, and enriching environment by assisting with daily program operations, supervising students, facilitating educational and recreational activities, and promoting positive social and emotional development.

This role fosters a safe, engaging, and enriching environment by assisting with daily program operations, supervising students, facilitating educational and recreational activities, and promoting positive social and emotional development.
General Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to the established daily schedule, including snack time, homework assistance, indoor and outdoor recreation, and structured enrichment activities.
- Provide continuous supervision of students to ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment that supports their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Foster positive relationships by treating every child with dignity, kindness, patience, and respect.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting and rotating among classrooms serving students from Pre-K2 through Grade 5, as program needs require.
- Assist in maintaining a positive, engaging, and organized afterschool environment that promotes student growth and development.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Beyond the Classroom Coordinator.
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School. Willing to enroll eligible children at Southside Christian School
- Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed philosophy of Christian education
- Previous experience working with early childhood and/or elementary-aged students is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and requiring minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to adapt to changing program needs and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor or child-sized furniture as needed to effectively supervise and interact with students.
- Ability to safely assist with the evacuation of students during emergency situations.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 15 pounds as required in the performance of assigned duties.
