SouthPark Animal Hospital is a 5 doctor veterinary hospital in the heart of South Charlotte. We are seeking two - four full-time veterinary assistants to join our growing fast paced practice team of skilled providers. Our veterinary assistants work closely with the licensed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to provide the highest quality of medicine in a compassionate caring environment where all of the staff members passionately love animals. We offer preventative care, general medicine, surgery, digital radiology, dental cleaning, radiology and surgery, and full in-house Idexx lab services. Applicants should have a minimum of one year of experience and be able to assume many of the responsibilities listed below. Each candidate must be skilled and have strong client communication skills, animal handling skills, a positive attitude, and a team spirit. Knowledge of the EzyVet cloud based practice management software is a plus. Hourly compensation is based upon experience, responsibility, skill competency, and team attitude. Hospital hours are M-F from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. Saturday/Sunday hours are available for boarding services.
Responsibilities of the Veterinary Assistant include but are not limited to performing the following:
Team effectiveness
Demonstrate compassionate patient care at all times
Demonstrate a willingness to use known skills and develop additional skills
Properly restrain and assist with procedures on and physical exams of patients
Take and record vital signs
Draw blood and collect urine and stool samples and perform laboratory tests
Trim nails, clean cages, walk dogs and create a safe, healthy environment
Exercise time management, read charts, maintain and update patient records
CLEAN and sterilize laboratory tools, treatment rooms and exam rooms
Remove trash and dispose of properly
Be able to lift and handle animals easily up to 40lbs.
Communicate with pet owners, pharmacies, and veterinary supply companies
Assist with kennel care and restock supplies
Appropriately handle the loss of a pet
Answer the phone and schedule an appointment
Be able to solve problems and handle stressful situations
Be able to adapt to changes in protocols due to events such as the Covid-19 Pandemic

Pay: $16 - $20.00 per hour depending upon experience and level of skills
