What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach position at Southern Wells Com Schools?
Duties Include:
- Preparing the varsity team to be competitive at the varsity level. This
would include the preparation of team and individual scouting reports.
- Developing individual player skills and incorporating them into the
competitive team concept.
- Establishing both short and long term goals for the boy’s basketball
program that includes player and coaches development at the high school,
junior high, and elementary levels.
- Maintaining and communicating team and player
accomplishments/statistics with both local and state media outlets.
- Promoting the basketball program by running off-season camps/clinics for
future Raiders.
Preferred Skills:
- Coaching experience at the high school level.
- Communication skills needed to convey expectations with players and
parents.
- Collaboratively working with the school administration to ensure that
student athletes are well represented on the court and in the community.
Education/Training:
- Candidates with a teaching license are preferred, but a teaching license is
not required.
- Current teaching vacancies for the 2024-2025 school year include: junior
high science, junior high/high school art, and special education.
- All athletic safety training courses required by the State of Indiana and
IHSAA must be completed before beginning to work with athletes.
