Position: Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach - High School

Position Summary: Churubusco Jr-Sr High School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Head Boys Basketball Coach to lead and develop our high school boys basketball program. The candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering academic achievement, athletic development, and positive character in student-athletes.

Required Qualifications

• Previous, successful basketball coaching experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals and player development.
• Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes and families.
• Ability to meet all district and state coaching certification requirements.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching license and/or employment within the district.
• Experience developing youth or feeder basketball programs.
• Background in strength and conditioning principles.
  
  

Primary Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Development

• Provide overall leadership for the boys basketball program, including collaboration with junior high and youth coaches to ensure program continuity.
• Plan and conduct organized, purposeful practices that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship and oversee off-season and summer training.
  
  

Student-Athlete Development

• Promote academic accountability and monitor student-athlete eligibility.
• Foster leadership, character, resilience, and teamwork among players.
• Create a positive, inclusive team culture that supports all participants.
  
  

Game & Practice Management

• Develop game strategies and manage in-game decision-making.
• Coordinate practice schedules and competition logistics with the Athletic Director.
• Maintain inventory and care of equipment and uniforms.
  
  

Communication & Community Engagement

• Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administration, and staff.
• Represent the school in a professional manner and promote the program within the school and community.
• Support multi-sport participation and collaborate with other coaches.
  
  

Salary: Based upon experience and qualifications
