Fleet Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee daily fleet operations for company vehicles and transportation activities.
- Coordinate and manage preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and service schedules for all fleet assets.
- Monitor vehicle condition, repair costs, fuel usage, and fleet utilization.
- Ensure all fleet equipment remains operational, safe, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Coordinate with vendors, repair facilities, and service providers regarding fleet repairs and maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate fleet maintenance and service records.
Driver Management & Scheduling
- Manage driver schedules, dispatch coordination, and route coverage to ensure operational efficiency.
- Monitor driver attendance, productivity, and performance expectations.
- Coordinate driver assignments and route planning based on operational needs.
- Ensure drivers maintain required licensing, certifications, medical cards, and qualifications.
- Address driver-related concerns, route issues, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner.
DOT & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company transportation policies.
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS), driver logs, ELD compliance, and required documentation.
- Maintain DOT files, inspection records, accident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate and manage vehicle inspections, registrations, permits, and licensing requirements.
- Assist with accident investigations, safety reviews, corrective actions, and compliance reporting.
- Promote and enforce safe driving practices and company safety standards.
Route & Transportation Management
- Oversee route planning and transportation scheduling to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Respond to transportation delays, route changes, and operational disruptions.
- Analyze routing, mileage, fuel consumption, and transportation costs for operational improvement opportunities.
- Communicate with management regarding fleet performance, driver concerns, and operational needs.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate reports related to fleet operations, repairs, compliance, fuel usage, and transportation activities.
- Assist with budgeting and cost control initiatives related to fleet operations.
- Support audits, inspections, and operational reviews as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous fleet management, transportation, logistics, or operations management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation compliance standards.
- Experience managing drivers and transportation scheduling.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with fleet management systems, GPS/telematics platforms, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to travel between locations and inspect fleet equipment as required.
- Ability to work extended hours or respond to operational issues after hours when necessary.
Work Environment
- Combination of office, shop, and field environment.
- Exposure to vehicle repair facilities, outdoor weather conditions, and operational environments.
