Reports to: F&B Manager 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Bartender prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in a friendly, efficient, and responsible manner, while maintaining a clean and organized bar area and delivering an exceptional guest experience consistent with Lone Star Court’s hospitality standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS 

• Operational Responsibilities 

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes; maintain accurate par levels and restock bar inventory; operate the POS system to enter orders and process payments accurately; maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, including glassware, garnishes, and equipment; set up and break down the bar area for each shift. 

• Guest Services 

• Greet guests warmly and promptly; make beverage recommendations; check identification to verify legal drinking age; monitor guest alcohol consumption and intervene professionally when necessary; resolve guest concerns or escalate to a manager as needed. 

• Team Support and Training 

• Communicate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure timely, accurate service; assist in training new bartenders and barbacks on drink recipes and bar procedures. 

• Communication and Reporting 

• Report low inventory, equipment issues, or maintenance needs to the F&B Manager; communicate nightly sales and any incidents at the end of each shift. 

• Safety & Compliance 

• Maintain current TABC certification; maintain current food handlers certification; follow all responsible alcohol service laws and hotel policies; adhere to health and sanitation standards for food and beverage handling. Be in compliance with hotel trainings and attend required meetings.  

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS  

• Strong verbal and written communication skills 

• Effective time management and problem-solving skills 

• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems 

• Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail 

• Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities 

• Working knowledge of classic and craft cocktail recipes and proper pouring and measuring techniques; current TABC certification and Food Handler’s certification  

Physical Requirements 

• Sitting: Rare 

• Standing/Walking: Frequent to constant throughout the shift, often on hard surfaces 

• Lifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs, including kegs, liquor cases, beer cases, and ice 

• Other Physical Requirements: Frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive hand motion while mixing and pouring drinks 

Working Environment 

• Interior: Bar, lounge, and Pavilion/pool bar areas 

• Exterior: May include outdoor bar or pool deck service, with exposure to Texas heat and weather conditions 

BASICS  

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas 

• Display courteous behavior with guests and team members 

• Report any unsafe conditions immediately 

• Ensure hotel equipment is in proper working condition 

• Attend required meetings 

• Follow company policies and procedures 

• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience 
High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 1 year of bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bar setting preferred; must be 18 years of age or older (21 where required by law).
