What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at Southern Specialty Physicians?
Southern Specialty Physicians (SSP) is a faith-based Vascular Surgery and Podiatry office looking to hire a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant to assist with our vascular surgeon. This position is open to eager and energetic individuals who find the desire to assist our vascular population in Central Alabama.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Conduct office visits by assessing, diagnosing, and treating vascular conditions.
- Care coordination with other providers, specialists, testing facilities, and agencies.
- See patients independently and collaborate with physicians.
- Assisting with hospital visits on acute illness/ post-operative patients.
- Other duties, as assigned.
APRNs practice in our outpatient locations with a collaborative care team composed of a physician(s), nurse practitioner or physician assistant, medical assistants, and vascular certified sonographers. We partner with Baptist hospitals for acute and surgical care. Our APRNs complete rounds 1 weekend a month. They do not take call during the week or weekend.
Required Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or NP Certificate Program graduate, Physician Assistant certificate program
- National certification in at least one of the following specialties:
- Family Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant
- Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
- Adult Nurse Practitioner
- Gerontological Nurse Practitioner
- Active, non-probationary state Nurse Practitioner license
- US Work Authorization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a NP/PA role preferred, not required.
- Passion for teamwork and the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
