About Us & The Role Southern Sign Company is Wilmington’s premier provider of custom signage solutions. We are expanding our team and seeking a meticulous, hands-on Vinyl Graphics & Installation Specialist. In this role, you will handle shop production—including weeding, masking, and laying graphics—as well as the expert field application of vehicle wraps, wall murals, and window lettering. If you have steady hands, an eye for detail, and a desire to master the vinyl trade, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Vinyl Production: Accurately weed, tape, and mask cut-vinyl and printed decals. Smoothly apply graphics to rigid substrates (aluminum, acrylic, PVC) without bubbles or debris.
- Installation: Expertly install spot graphics, partial and full commercial vehicle wraps, storefront window/door vinyl, and large-format interior wall murals.
- Site Prep & Removal: Meticulously clean vehicles, glass, and walls for optimal adhesion. Safely strip old wraps and graphics using heat guns and adhesive removers.
- Quality Control: Inspect all finished work to ensure precise alignment, color consistency, and a flawless, wrinkle-free application.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior hands-on experience with vinyl application, vehicle wraps, or architectural graphics is highly preferred.
- Precision & Dexterity: Steady hands and the patience required to manipulate vinyl film over curves, rivets, corrugation, and complex surfaces.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, crouch, and use a squeegee for extended times in varying shop or outdoor temperatures.
- Practical Skills: Comfort reading a tape measure and translating scaled design proofs into real-world layouts.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (required for driving company vans and customer vehicles).
Bonus Skills
- Industry certifications (3M, Avery Dennison, Oracal/Orafol, etc.).
- Experience operating vinyl plotters or flatbed cutters.
