What are the responsibilities and job description for the STRUCTURAL FITTER position at Southern Response Services?
The Structural Fitter is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, laying out, fitting, and assembling structural steel components in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position requires experience using shop tools and equipment, including overhead cranes, forklifts, grinders, cutting torches, and measuring instruments. The Structural Fitter works closely with welders and supervisors to ensure assemblies are accurate, properly aligned, and completed safely and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of structural fitting experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Proficient with tape measures, levels, squares, and layout tools.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Ability to use oxy-fuel cutting equipment, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Safety & Housekeeping Responsibilities:
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and customer-specific safety requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Inspect tools and equipment before use and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift using good housekeeping practices.
- Properly store tools, equipment, and materials when not in use to eliminate trip hazards.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment within company guidelines.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Take pride in producing quality work while protecting yourself and your coworkers.
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
