General Description:
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, guests, customers, and employees by patrolling (either in the patrol vehicle or on foot or bike) and monitoring premises, identifying, anticipating, and resolving security issues.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure safe practices are maintained on campus
- Respond to medical emergencies, provide basic first aid, and request medical resources (i.e., ambulance) when required
- Ensure that driver checklists are completed and filed with security by drivers
- Sign in and out keys for driver vehicles
- Performs exterior property patrols responsible for detecting security of doors (CALV & NPI), suspicious behavior, and preventing vandalism, thefts, or other criminal behavior.
- Escort trespassing individuals off property when necessary
- Greet guests with a friendly demeanor, announce visitors when needed, and guide access to all persons on the property
- Complete and maintain all required reports (DARs, incident reports, maintenance reports, etc.) promptly, legibly, accurately, thoroughly, neatly, and with correct grammar and spelling
- Use independent judgment and discretion to perform routine and non-routine activities and handle unruly or trespassing public while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Maintain custody of the assigned patrol phone while on duty and respond to all calls
- Maintain constant mental alertness and attention to detail while performing all assigned functions
- Available for varied shifts, including weekends & holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
