What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rip Saw Catcher-HW, 1st Shift - Recline Design Plant 1 position at SOUTHERN MOTION INC?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Rip Saw Catcher is responsible for safely catching and separating the cull hardwood boards from the usable/good hardwood boards as the hardwood is being fed thru the rip saw by the rip saw operator. The catcher places the usable/good boards on a buggy, keeps a correct count of the usable/good boards and places all cull wood in a cull bin.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must learn to read daily schedule and various styles listed.
- Must be able to read a tape measure and check parts for correct dimensions.
- Understand and prioritize order of buggies in accordance to work schedule.
- Identify correct parts for respective styles to be assembled.
- Count parts to insure proper quantities according to BOM
- Report to the department lead person and/or department supervisor to assist in correcting any safety issues or problems they may be having.
- Properly stack and tag parts on buggy in accordance to guidelines for maximum quantities as related to safe handling procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work station throughout the work shift.
- Assist all others when necessary.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to ensure completion of daily schedule.

- Always ensure proper lifting techniques: avoid bending and twisting at the waist whenever possible.
- Inspect tools and protective equipment before use.
- Learn the hazards of the equipment and procedures used on the job.
- Report any defective, malfunctioning, or suspicious tool, machine, or protective equipment immediately.
- Participate in safety training and safety meetings.
- Report any hazards or risks related to policies or procedures.
