What You Will Do

  • The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the coordination of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program and supervise peer-led group study sessions for students taking designated high-risk courses, in an effort to enhance student success and promote student retention.
  • The Program Supervisor for Supplemental Instruction will have duties that include attending regular meetings with the Coordinator and Graduate Assistants regarding daily program operations; helping the Coordinator prepare and update training materials and participating in training sessions for new leaders and team leaders; mentoring, observing, and evaluating SI staff and peer leaders; assisting with administrative tasks which include daily running of the program and maintaining and updating the SI Blackboard, Microsoft Teams, databases and shared drive files, working with the Coordinator to hold and/or attend semester, bi-weekly, and weekly meetings with Retention and enrollment management staff; developing marketing and advertising strategies to promote SI to students, faculty, and administrators; analyzing and evaluating program success through student and program evaluation survey trends and statistical analysis for year-end reports; and working with the Coordinator to research, develop, and implement technology, strategies, and materials to improve and streamline the program.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.

A bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology/Educational Leadership preferred. Experience working with college students in a student-centered learning environment, knowledge of cognitive development and student development theories, and experience developing implementing interactive training programs highly desired. The incumbent will have good communication skills, exhibit leadership ability, demonstrate the ability to balance multiple tasks and projects as necessary, and have working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and basic assessment practices. Specialized training for coordinating and supervising SI programs is acquired through SI Supervisor Training at the International Center for Supplemental Instruction at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Illinois Residency Requirement:Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.
