Job Title: Patient Relations and Risk Manager
This is a unique opportunity to join Southern Illinois Healthcare as a Patient Relations and Risk Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for managing patient relations grievances and complaints, identifying and evaluating risk events, and developing strategies to reduce the frequency and severity of these events.
About the Role:
- Manage patient relations grievances and complaints in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Identify and evaluate risk events through data analysis and chart reviews.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce the frequency and severity of risk events.
- Collaborate with medical staff, administrators, and other departments to ensure timely responses to patients and families.
- Facilitate grievance meetings and acts as a patient liaison.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Relations (35%):
- Directly responsible for specific patient complaints/grievances in the form of face-to-face patient and family contact, letters, phone calls, emails, patient satisfaction surveys, and potentially other forms of communication.
- Investigating concerns through collaboration with administration/Providers/Managers/Supervisors for timely responses to patients/families.
- Facilitating grievance meetings and acting as patient liaison.
- Directing patient inquiries and complaints to appropriate medical staff members and following up to ensure satisfactory resolutions.
- Explaining policies, procedures, and services to patients using medical or administrative knowledge.
- Risk (65%):
- Reviewing and monitoring risk events in the RDE reporting system.
- Investigating risk concerns through chart reviews and collaboration with Medical Staff members and staff.
- Managing communication with patients/families to ensure transparency, timeliness, and resolution.
- Identifying potential risks by analyzing data, observing processes, and talking to providers and staff.
- Ensuring and/or facilitating adequate communication concerning key risks.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current Illinois RN Licensure.
- 5 years of technical experience.
- Ability to manage highly complex and uniquely challenging situations.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to de-escalate highly emotional and intense situations.
Compensation:
$32.44 - $50.28 per hour, commensurate with experience.
