Southern Development Management Company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Operations to lead and oversee our multifamily housing portfolio. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, and team development across multiple communities.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in multifamily property management, with strong knowledge of LIHTC (Tax Credit), Section 8, and HUD programs, along with a proven ability to lead teams, improve occupancy, and optimize property performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of a multifamily portfolio across multiple regions
- Drive financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense management
- Monitor and improve occupancy, collections, and NOI performance
- Ensure compliance with LIHTC, Section 8, HUD, and other regulatory requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop Regional Managers and onsite teams
- Implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices
- Partner with ownership groups and provide regular performance reporting
- Identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and portfolio expansion
- Support staffing strategies, hiring, and team development initiatives
- Ensure high standards of resident satisfaction and property operations
Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in multifamily property management leadership
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of properties
- Strong knowledge of:
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)
- Section 8 / Housing Choice Voucher programs
- HUD regulations and compliance
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and occupancy management
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Experience with property management software (e.g., RealPage preferred)
Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
