Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in various electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Medical Receptionist will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the medical office and enhancing patient experiences.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar effectively.
- Handle incoming calls on multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with insurance claims processing.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform documentation review and manage medical billing processes, including CPT coding and ICD coding.
- Assist in the collection of payments for services rendered, including medical collections.
- Utilize EHR systems Allscripts, or similar platforms for patient data management.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing correspondence.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to prepare care plans and facilitate patient intake processes.
- Ensure that the front desk area is organized and welcoming for patients.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within a medical or dental office is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and health information management is essential.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Allscripts
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite proficiency; 10-key typing experience is a plus.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are required to enhance patient interactions.
