What are the responsibilities and job description for the Appraisal Review Officer position at Southern Bank?
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
Administers the appraisal review function. Primary duties include reviewing appraisal reports and recommending additions and deletions to the approved appraiser database.

- Ensures the confidentiality of customer non-public personal information and secures information systems to comply with bank regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Review appraisal reports for both new and renewal loan requests;
- Perform or review in house evaluations;
- Train other employees in appraisal analysis;
- Resolve appraisal errors/deficiencies;
- Maintain capitalization rate and market sales database;
- Manage approved appraiser list; and,
- Approve temporary appraiser requests.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable regulatory and statutory requirements;
- Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication;
- Demonstrated expertise in analysis and decision support; and,
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage deadlines.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred; and,
- Five years’ experience in appraisal review, commercial real estate, and finance preferred. Experience may replace formal education requirement.
