Position Summary
Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School is seeking a dynamic and patient Intro to Keyboarding Teacher to help elementary students develop foundational typing and digital literacy skills. The teacher will introduce proper keyboarding techniques, promote accuracy and speed, and support scholars in becoming confident, responsible users of technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in basic keyboarding skills, including proper hand placement, posture, and typing techniques.
- Teach students to develop accuracy, fluency, and appropriate typing speed based on grade level expectations.
- Introduce fundamental computer skills such as navigating a keyboard, using basic software, and understanding digital tools.
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with school and technology standards.
- Differentiate instruction to support varying student skill levels and learning needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and staff.
- Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Reinforce digital citizenship, including responsible and safe use of technology.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support integration of keyboarding and technology across content areas.
- Ensure proper use and care of classroom technology and equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Teaching certification (preferred; requirements may vary by state).
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (preferred).
- Proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer applications (e.g., word processing tools).
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
