Position Title: 4th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

Position Summary
The 4th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality literacy instruction that strengthens students’ reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary development, and critical thinking. The teacher will design and implement engaging lessons aligned with state standards and the school’s curriculum while fostering a supportive classroom environment that encourages academic growth and a love of reading and writing.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver standards-based English Language Arts instruction aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
- Teach reading comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, grammar, and writing skills appropriate for 4th grade learners.
- Implement lessons that incorporate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies including guided reading, small group instruction, and whole group instruction.
- Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning.
- Promote critical thinking, analytical reading, and effective written communication.
Student Development & Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote respectful behavior and student engagement.
- Encourage student independence, collaboration, and accountability for learning.
- Support the social and emotional development of students.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Conduct regular assessments to evaluate student learning and literacy development.
- Analyze assessment data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and academic progress.
- Prepare and submit progress reports and report cards according to school guidelines.
- Provide targeted support and interventions for students who need additional academic assistance.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
- Participate in grade-level meetings, professional learning communities, and staff meetings.
- Collaborate with other teachers, instructional coaches, and support staff to improve instructional practices.
- Work with special education staff and intervention specialists to support diverse learners.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to school policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen instructional practices.
- Maintain organized lesson plans, student records, and classroom documentation.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, or a related field required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Valid state teaching license or certification in Elementary Education or English Language Arts
- Previous elementary teaching experience preferred
- Experience teaching literacy or English Language Arts strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of literacy instruction and reading comprehension strategies
- Knowledge of writing instruction, grammar, and vocabulary development
- Ability to analyze student performance data to guide instruction
