We are seeking a compassionate and experienced tutor with expertise in supporting students with disabilities or unique learning needs. This position is ideal for certified pre-k-12th grade educators who are passionate about individualized instruction and committed to fostering a positive learning environment. Sessions will be conducted under the guidance of a certified teacher, ensuring alignment with educational standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students with disabilities or unique needs.
- Collaborate with certified teachers to develop and implement tailored instructional plans based on each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or unique learning profile.
- Utilize adaptive teaching methods, tools, and strategies to address diverse learning styles and needs.
- Build rapport with students, fostering trust and confidence in their abilities.
- Monitor and document student progress, identifying areas of improvement and adjusting instruction as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff to ensure alignment on goals and progress.
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with students with disabilities, learning differences, or other unique needs.
- Strong understanding of IEPs, 504 plans, and specialized instructional strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusivity and equity in education.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive resources is a plus.
- Certified teacher license is required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with de-escalation strategies and positive behavioral interventions.
- Knowledge of state standards and curriculum requirements in Tennessee.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff.
Work Environment:
- Flexible scheduling (2-10 hours a week), including options for in-person or hybrid tutoring sessions.
- Work locations vary depending on student needs, including homes, schools, office, or community settings.
Compensation:
- $22-$25 per hour, paid weekly or biweekly depending on scheduling and arrangements.
