Job Summary
Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a Scale Clerk for our Easterly and Amite West locations. This role supports a positive safety culture within an aggregate environment regulated by MSHA compliance and industry standards. Responsibilities include recording weights, calculating charges, maintaining accurate records and serving as a backup Dispatcher on an as needed basis. Precision and diligence in a high tempo environment are paramount. A typical work schedule consists of daytime hours Monday through Friday, but may be required to work overtime, including early morning shift starting times. Saturdays may be required based on production needs.
Day to Day
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service both internally and externally.
- Ensure accurate weight of trucks and accuracy of tickets prior to issue.
- Perform site specific safety training or verify it has been completed, and all plant visitors sign in/out daily.
- Work cooperatively with the sales department/dispatch.
- Convey customer needs and/or complaints to Scale Ops Manager.
- Process COD and reconcile tickets daily.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to questions.
- Ensure no truck leaves the location over its legal weight limit.
- Responsible for general cleanliness of scale house and surrounding area.
- Assist with clerical duties required of plant management.
- On a weekly basis collect and record operating hours of equipment on site.
- Actively promotes safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition.
- Maintain strong communications with other plant employees and operators.
- Periodically this position will assist with dispatch responsibilities which include scheduling drivers and loads, accurate maintenance of dispatch records and logs and communicate directly with drivers, scale clerks and leadership.

- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organized.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Positive, Team-based attitude
- The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders.
- The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy).
- Previous scale house experience desired but not required.
